Geelong 3rd Sunday ride report, 21 February

Sad though it was that the Melbourne guys “ Big Day Out” was cancelled due to Covid restrictions, it worked out well for us Geelong blokes as we were then able to meet for once with a few of our Melbourne mates! We joined up at Bacchus Marsh for a most enjoyable tour up and around Mt Macedon led by Brian Wilson.
A Coffee stop first at Gisborne (where the slightly drizzly weather up to then broke into brilliant sunshine) and then onto the bikes to head up through Macedon and up to the memorial cross on the peak of Mt Macedon. We Geelong fellows don’t often get to Macedon and it must be 20 years since I was up there. We were struck by how beautiful the English Oak trees and the greenery generally was. Some great views were to be had from the peak.
Afterwards Brian led us down to Woodend where we had lunch. The place was equally picturesque but busy with many Sunday trippers striving to have a day out after Lockdowns!
Altogether a lovely ride with good fellowship and great to meet up with the Melbourne blokes.
