Geelong Feb Ride
Geelong/Ballarat 1st Sunday of the Month 4.2.2018
Eleven riders gathered on a perfect summers day for the trip to Trentham, a clear sky, warm temperature and little or no wind (perfect).
Simon Turner again flew the flag for the Ballarat contingent and prospective new member Tony Morgan from Inverleigh saddled up on his 1939 Ariel for his first run with the club. With the formalities done we headed in a northerly direction crossing the Midland and Western Highways to Batesford and then Anakie Road through winding hills to Ballan, passing through the township on our way to Greendale into the Wombat state forest to Blackwood, Newbury and finally Tretham.
The pace was somewhat sedate not wanting to stretch a 1939 side valve motorcycle too far on its maiden run with the club. As it turned out the old girl did a fine job in the hills and received a fair amount of attention from onlookers.
Lunch was at the bakery as per normal with homemade pies and so forth on the menu. The best part of an hour went by before we re-fuelled for the return trip back the way we came except for Simon, cutting across through Daylesford to Ballarat and Tony veering off just out of Ballan through to Mt. Edgerton on his way back to Inverleigh.
From this point the throttles were flexed a little more adding more air flow to the top ends of our British twins and Andy`s Kwaka 9, making it a fun day.
