Geelong Nov. Shed Run
3rd Sunday Of the Month Shed Run
Andy Symons put his hand up at very short notice to host this run, with his son Aaron taking on the lead rider duties whilst Andy took on kitchen duties at his home in St. Leonards on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Eleven riders in all, including Kim Coillet on his first Geelong run coming down from Camberwell in Melbourne gathered on a magnificent late spring day, slight breeze and warm temperature. From our meeting point we did an anticlockwise circle to avoid a number of traffic lights to pass only one set for the entire journey to our morning tea stop at St. Leonards.
The route passed through as always Ceres in the Barrabool Hills, Warn Ponds Then Freshwater Creek on the Anglesea road, turning left at Mount Duneed Rd. crossing Torquay Rd. and Horseshoe Bend Rd near Connewarre. Corner marking a must on this trip with a fair number of turns down and more to come as we continued on through to Thirteenth Beach, Barwon Heads, across the Barwon River to Ocean Grove, through Wallington and finally St. Leonards where Andy awaited us. The traffic was a little busier than the previous run but still as stated earlier only one set of traffic lights for the entire trip, the corner marking working a treat and with our lead rider Aaron doing a superb job, we all rolled in together without a hitch.
Our host Andy had decided that we needed to tame down the high level of catering that has preceded in past runs, as the bar seemed to be rising all the time. With that the spread was more than adequate, consisting of sausage rolls, party pies, several plates of sandwiches, grapes, biscuits, liquids and a cake that Peter Cook brought along having had his wife make an extra. All in all, the tucker and company spot on for the last Geelong based run for this spring season. The usual chat and shed perusal took place up until about midday then we all made our way home in smaller groups.
Our thanks to Andy and Aaron for your contribution at short notice.
