Geelong October Ride 2017
Having missed the September rides as I was away on holiday, it was good to get the old Triumph out again especially with the weather on the improve, all be it an hour earlier due to daylight saving starting overnight.
All the usual suspects were in attendance plus 2 new faces in Graham Higgin and Ted Blance, the latter coming from Noble Park. Eleven riders in all including our Geelong representative big Dave Gudgeon made it to the start for another mystery ride which has become common due to my poor forward planning.
After the pre-ride chat & briefing we took our normal departure route into Ceres then turning right onto Merrawarp Rd. to Ballarat Rd. then further on to the Hamilton Highway and finally the Maude Rd. which is sometimes used during the Three Rivers Run. We stayed on the Maude Rd. through Maude itself turning left travelling along a tree lined and fairly narrow road into Sheoaks, coming out on the Meredith Steiglitz Rd. turning right and returning to Maude again via Steiglitz which is great motorcycling country indeed.
Heading west we come out onto Ballarat Rd. for a short run to Lethbridge with a couple of left and right turns to the Shelford Rd. which passes through Teesdale to Shelford, then a nice bending run to the Hamilton Highway for a short stint to Inverleigh for our lunch break. This was a very pleasant run at an easy pace, typical classic riding as are the riders. All the usual banter & problem solving took place over lunch before we broke up into smaller groups for the short homeward leg back to Geelong. Thanks to all for attending & making it another great day on the classics.
