Geelong Ride Report, 7 March

A very pleasant 25 degree day expected, and with a few phone calls going around on Saturday we had the company of a few ladies.
Rod Dutton planned a ride, with the intention of staying away from the coast because of the long weekend and busy traffic we headed out through Ceries to Stonehaven, Gheringhap a quick turn of the Midland Hwy onto Bakers Bridge Road took us to Maude.
Through Maude we travelled to She Oaks, Steiglitz and onto De Motts Road to Anakie.
After a quick re-group at Anakie, we continued on the Balan Road with the intention of our destination of turning left onto Slate Quarry Road toMeridith.
We hit a snag at the start of Slate Quarry Road with a sign saying Road Closed, no through Road.
Being on bikes we thought we might be able to sneak through the road works to we continued on some12 kms until we came to the Moorabool River where the Bridge has been totally removed.
With an about turn and Andy Symons seeing a large 5 ft snake as we turned around we headed back to the Anakie General store.
We all enjoyed our time together and look forward to our next ride.
Thank you to Rod Dutton for Lead riding and planning the ride.
Also a big thank you to Graeme Wilson who is having his 80th birthday later this month.
