Geelong Run Report, 3rd Sunday of the Month, 4 June

Thick fog enveloped us at the Waurn Ponds start although the forecast was for a sunny Sunday later. Probably one of the reasons there were only four crazy riders? Although two of our regulars Noel Wills and Graham Wilson can sadly no longer join us and Nick Oakley was overseas (again!) riding pushbikes in Europe.

Nevertheless it was decided to try a slightly longer 230Km ride to Trentham where we haven’t been for a long while. Fog continued all the way to a regroup at Anakie where Mark whinged that he couldn’t see properly and “why are we here”? To our delight though as we cleared the Brisbane Ranges the sun broke out and provided a great backdrop highlighting all the great many wind turbines now at Mt Egerton  as we headed to Ballan. A brief  coffee stop was enjoyed at Ballan before we carried on.

The continued twisties through Blackwood and on to Trentham  in the sunshine was glorious and made us wonder what our earlier doubts were about? (Shows you’ve got to get out and “be in it to win it”)!

A nice little lunch at Zeka Café in Trentham and continued good fellowship sitting in the sun rounded off a good day until it was time to return along the same route back to Geelong.
