Geelong Run Report, 6 November

1st Sunday of the Month 6/11/2022

Seven riders sidled up at the Waurn Ponds start in great sunny weather for once. We were very pleased to have a member from Perth WA join us today in the shape of Eddie Preston on his Triumph Tiger 950. (Some members may remember Eddie who was also at the 50th Anniversary Rally)? Eddie comes across occasionally to family in Tullamarine and keeps his Triumph there- so he didn’t have that long a ride to join us!

The ride plan was to head out Meredith way in order to explore some of the route we will have to lead the Melbourne guys in a week or so from Meredith to Queenscliff on the “Round the Bay” ride on the 20th. I led while Ron brought up T.E.C and took the boys down some VERY bumpy potholed minor roads the back of Shelford and Mt Mercer. This included a gravel stretch between Mt Mercer and Elaine – which inevitably caused Noel to say “I’m never bringing my Guzzi again’! Not to worry, none of these roads will be part of the “Round the Bay” ride!

Good fellowship and coffee at the Elaine General Store where the owner doesn’t do a whole lot of business most days and loves to see us. The food and coffee is great. Afterwards we followed the planned route back to Meredith and then She Oaks Rd, Maude and Russell’s Bridge to Ceres and Geelong that we’ll be doing on the 20th.

A very pleasant Sunday riding.
