Geelong1st Sunday Ride report, 5 December

It was great to see some of the Melbourne riders (in the shape of Graeme and hopefully soon his brother Brian) being able to join us again for another ride after so long stuck at home!

A slightly longer ride was planned ending up at the little town of Beeac  (which is near Colac). Seven riders set off for a cruise through the Barrabool Hills and down Pollocksford Bridge Rd. Thereafter turning right just before Inverleigh to take us to Teesdale and Shelford. After Shelford a sharp lookout had to be kept so as not to fly past the narrow strip of bitumen which is Wingeel Rd to take us south again. Wingeel Rd required concentration as there were many potholes big enough to swallow front wheels and rough bits to shake old bikes (but no gravel to everyone’s relief)!

Nearly 75 kms later after going through nonexistent places like Ombersley and Eurack, but also striking Western Plains country with pretty lakes here and there, we rolled into Beeac .  Coffee and sustenance was sought at the quaint Farmers Arms Hotel.  A well recommended place for a Sunday lunch!

After good fellowship we took Eurack Rd back to Winchelsea where a straight run back down the Princes Highway to Geelong finished off a good 150Km ride in lovely weather.
