Northern Region Mid week Ride Report, 19th March 2019

I arose to a dark and cloudy morning, overcast, cool with no rain predicted for the day. I have just returned from Queensland the night before having spent four days with my 94year old uncle and cousin in complete sunshine and humid weather.

Thirteen riders and two pillions (thanks girls for attending) arrived at the servo for our ride to Healesville via Whittlesea, Kinglake West and Pheasant Creek for our morning tea stop at the Flying Tarts Bakery.

The temperature had definitely dropped on our arrival (fresh) so most bike jackets stayed on. After a hot cuppa and snack we headed off, riding through the clouds (I thought I was on the plane again) at Kinglake and down the hill towards the Melba Hwy.

We passed through the scenic area of Toolangi, and hit a 1½ klm road works of wet road base, slush and loose gravel. Ahhhh what the *#&# luckily all bikes stayed upright “phew”. Healesville welcomed us with warm sunshine, the Beechworth Bakery filled our rumbling stomachs and conversations filled the air.

On the bikes again heading westbound via chocolate factory back road, great visual road with the wind hitting our face (clear the bugs out if you wish to) passing Yarra Glen, Christmas Hills, Kangaroo Grounds, Diamond Creek and back to our starting point.

Thanks to Keith for TEC duties and all who attended.

Until next time……..Wally Walsh.
