Southern Region Midweek ride report, 1 March

Destination: Marysville via Warburton
Leaving Chirnside Park at 9am, the weather was looking threatening with rain. There were six riders, 4 BMW, 1Honda and 1 Triumph.
We wound our way through back roads, passing through Coldstream. Along the way there were strawberry farms, apple orchards, vineyards, sheep, cattle, horses, etc, great scenery with intermittent rain. By the time we got to Warburton it was a steady shower. We had our coffees etc and rode on to Cambarville, the rain now stopped. We studied the past history and walked to the big trees. A major point of interest is the “Big Tree”- a 400 year old giant standing 85 metres above the forest floor. IT was an interesting if not frustrating event, as the leaches were out in force!
We then rode on to Marysville. While having lunch the wet stuff started again. As we were leaving the sky opened up and hit us hard all the way back to Healesville! There we parted our ways. Even though the weather wasn’t so good, the ride was great.
Thanks Mike.
