Sunday Club Ride Report, 19 March

South Gippsland Sunday Ride – March 19th, 2023

Arriving early at the United Service Station in Tooradin, I felt that I may have been on my own for the ride. The day before had been a terrible day of near 40 degrees with a howling north wind and some rain had been forecast for the days ride. In addition, quite a few of the regular Club riders were enjoying themselves in Tasmania. I was both surprised and relieved when Paul Clayton, Brian Shelton, Tom Thursfield and John Killingsworth progressively joined me.

We headed off across the Koo-Wee-Rup swamp before travelling through Lang Lang, Poowong and encountering a little bit of drizzle for the pleasant rride into Korumburra for morning tea at Kelly’s Bakery.

After an enjoyable break, we made our way through Jumbunna and then across to Inverloch, Koonwarra, Meeniyan, Dumbalk and a great ride into Leongatha and a very nice little lunch stop at McIndoe Park. Lots of friendly banter over a leisurely lunch and then we headed back through Korumburra to Bena and along the tight and twisty Bass Valley road towards Poowong, then towards Loch and Nyora before making our way back to Tooradin to finish the ride.

The small group enjoyed a pleasant 300 km ride over some very nice roads in what turned out to be great motorcycling weather for the most part. No incidents, nobody got lost, good company and a great days ride. Many thanks to Tom for taking on his usual tail rider duties and for Tom, Brian, Paul and John making it a very enjoyable day.
